Adventure Fund (aka registry)

With two becoming one in the very near future...we have two houses... two blenders... two crockpots... two woks... two of most everything you can imagine.  And even though in some cases two is better than one... it makes for a very full house.

SO Justin and Angela have decided that there is really no need for two of everything as we merge households.  We are not focused on the stuff in our lives but more so the people and the adventures that come along with spending time with people!

After the wedding, Angela will be moving into Justin's house in California.  There are a few things on the "honey do list" that we want to work on to make this house a home for both of us so as we have talked about a gift registry for the wedding... we decided that if you are so inclined that we let you...

The Engagement

Anyone that knows Angela... knows that she doesn't do "normal" well.  Our entire relationship has been based on divine intervention ... a bit of serendipity... and a whole lot of answers to prayer.

On September 5th, 2016 (Labor Day) while driving back to Justin's house from doing grocery shopping, Justin asked the question... "so when would you like to get married... sooner... later... the end of this year... the first of next year.... what are your thoughts???"

We both have known for a while that we desire to get married and spend our time sharing adventures with one another.  So Angela says... well sooner than later would be great!  She also brought up the fact that it had been discussed that it was important to have Joe and Lori (the couple that had introduced them) at the wedding.

Well in that short car ride home... we both came to the realization of a couple of things...

1.  Joe and Lori live in Egypt.
2.  Joe and Lori don't come back stateside very often.
3.  Joe and Lori were planning on coming back the end of October.

So it was decided that our wedding would be sooner than later and fall according to the travel plans of Joe & Lori.

After a couple of deep breaths... the wedding planning began.  Date... check!  Venue... check! Father asked for blessing...check!  Families notified... check! Guest list of less than 18 people... check! Bridal party... flowers... colors... and the list could go on.

Angela decided to take off Friday (Sept 16th) from work to get some wedding stuff done... and Justin followed suite.  When plans for Friday were discussed... Justin said... let's go down and get our marriage license as that needs to be done... then we can do some looking for things we need for the wedding and go to the LA County Fair.

So we drove down to Temecula to the County Clerks office to file our information.  With marriage license in hand we walked out of the building and instead of heading directly to the car,

Justin wanted to go "look" at the library which was right next door.  While walking through a little flower filled courtyard between the buildings... Justin got down on one knee with an engagement ring in hand and asked Angela to marry him.

Of course Angela said "YES!!!".

How the Adventure began...

October 2014...

Justin was headed to Egypt to take a much needed break after finishing a recent degree to visit with Joe and Lori Lawson... friends he had known for 20 years!.

Angela was headed to Egypt for a transition break between living in Uganda and moving to China.  She had know Joe & Lori Lawson for just a couple of years but had been down to Egypt on a couple of occasions assisting with their work there.

Justin flew in first... Angela a couple of days later.  When Angela arrived Joe and Justin went to the airport to pick her up in the wee hours of the morning

A few hours later, when the sun had come up, Justin greeted Angela with a cup of freshly brewed coffee.  She likes to joke that "He didn't have me at hello... He had me at coffee!"

A day later we boarded an airplane to Luxor and started an amazing adventure of hot air ballooning over King Tut's tomb and Valley of the kings along with exploring Karnak temple and the Luxor museum.  This led to sharing our love for adventures.

Over the next three weeks, we climbed to the top of the Giza pyramids... we explored tombs of ancient pharoahs...survived Imotep... and Justin kept Angela from being traded for two wives.

By the end of the trip Justin shared that Angela had given him hope that a woman could love him for him.  They agreed upon parting ways to stay in touch.

Angela moved to China upon leaving Egypt to teach English with Disney... Justin went home to Southern California to continue his work at University of LaVerne.  As their agreement, they kept in contact.  For 14 months, weekly skype dates were held along with emails and text.  Over this time, many topics were discussed and the relationship continued to grow.

October 2015...

Angela flew back to the US for a two week break to meet up with her parents at Disney World.  She met up with Justin in Southern California and had lunch with his family before flying to Florida together.

They spent two weeks going to all of the Disney parks and Universal Studios... exploring Epcot's food and wine festival... and attending Mickey's not so scary spooktacular.

At the end of the time in Disney, we were both settled on the fact that we needed to be on the same continent to see where this relationship was headed.

Over the next couple of months... Angela was offered a job in Southern California and decided that it was time to move back to the US.

December 2015... Angela finished her contract with Disney and flew back stateside for Christmas.  She spent Christmas Eve with Justin's family and then flew to NC to spend time with her family.

By January she had moved to California where they were able to start up a "normal" dating relationship.  Which leads us to today...
